As we did in 2014, we had the opportunity to participate once more in the Spanish jewelry fair with more tradition: Madrid Joya.
Celebrated from 9th to 13th September, it became the meeting point for the industry improving its figures since the previous edition.
We have to admit that this has been a very special event for us. Not only our pieces were displayed in the exhibition ‘Espacio Autor’ (‘Designer Space’), coordinated by the Spanish Association of Designers of Creative Jewelry, but we received the trophy corresponding to the first prize in the AJA Contest of Creative Jewelry Design for our ‘Abyssal’ cuff.
Some pieces from our Metropolis Collection, which combines sterling silver, colored titanium and gemstones, were displayed attracting great attention.
In addition, the ‘Abyssal’ cuff was displayed with the other two awarded jewels in the AJA Contest of Creative Jewelry Design, accompanied by its trophee.
Aghast Manor is a discontinued project of Andrea Haugen, a German singer and musician very recognised in the European underground music scene. She was married to Tomas Haugen, a multi-instrumentalist well known in the Norwegian black metal scene, and became popular due to the success of her collaboration with Tania Stene: the dark ambient project Aghast.
Andrea is responsible for the music of Hagalaz’ Runedance, a project she dedicated to the pagan spirituality of Northern Europe. Since 2003 she releases all her music under her artist name of Nebelhexë. She also writes filmscripts since then, both horror and satire (and her music has been included in several soundtracks).
Aghast Manor was a side project with two full-lenght albums: Gaslights and Penetrate (the theme ‘Fear’was the penultime song of the first one).
Sit back and relax. As we always say, beauty may be found in unexpected places…
Who are Othon Mataragas and Ernesto Tomasini?
Othon Mataragas (1979, Athens – Greece), a.k.a. OTHON, is a London-based composer, pianist, songwriter, producer, DJ and club promoter.
For its part, Ernesto Tomasini (1968, Palermo – Italy) is an Italian actor, singer and writer living in Britain with a long career on the stage. In 2013 he was awarded the prize ‘Sicilian in the World’.
Taken from the Wikipedia entry about Ernesto Tomasini:
‘For six years he has been the muse of composer Othon Mataragas. As Othon & Tomasini they have performed in some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, theatres, museums and churches. They feature on the soundtrack of Bruce LaBruce’s film: Otto; or, Up With Dead People, they performed at the show of hat designer Nasir Mazhar for the London Fashion Week (an experience that Ernesto repeated on his own the following year) and were special guests at Marc Almond’s London concert at the Roundhouse. In 2010 they made their West End debut and performed at the National Portrait Gallery. Othon’s first album, in which Tomasini sings alongside Almond and David Tibet, was released in 2008 on the Durtro Jnana label. 2011 saw the distribution of their first single and music video together and Othon’s second album, Impermanence, in which Tomasini and Almond are joined by Camille O’Sullivan as guest singer, on Cherry Red/SFE. In 2012 the same label published their second single and video. In 2014 Othon released his third album and in it Tomasini sung two dance tracks’.

I had the honor of attending the opening of the exhibition ’10 Years of Designer Jewelry in the Atlantic’ last week (unfortunately Irene could not make it to travel with me to Pontevedra this time). Besides being there as designer, I had the privilege of speaking on behalf of the ‘Asociación Joyas de Autor’.
I have written a brief chronicle of this event for the ‘Asociación Joyas de Autor’, you will find it here: “Inauguración: 10 Años de Joya de Autor en el Atlántico”.
