We are very pleased to recommend you this temporary exhibition at Oshkosh Public Museum that will take place from 8th June to 8th September 2013 and would like to take this chance to sincerely thank the Museum for counting on us to include our Steampunk-inspired fine jewelry among the chosen works.

1.- About Oshkosh Public Museum

Operated for the public good through a blend of public and private funding, the Oshkosh Public Museum is the second-oldest public museum in the state of Wisconsin and it is accredited by the American Association of Museums. Located in eastern Wisconsin, the museum’s mission is to identify, collect, document, preserve and interpret material culture, ideas and values representing Oshkosh and the Lake Winnebago Region.

Several galleries of the Oshkosh Public Museum are located in the historic Sawyer family home, an English Tudor Revival residence built in 1908 for lumber baron and banker, Edgar P. Sawyer, and his family. A visit to the Museum the mansion halls to marvel at the rich interiors designed by the famous Tiffany Studios of New York is mandatory.

2.- About the exhibition Steampunk: Gadgets*Art*Costumes

As the Museum states:

‘The Museum is exploring the fantastical world of Steampunk this summer as we showcase the marvelous gadgets, stunning artwork, and elaborate costumes created by artists and fans of this exotic sub-culture. Steampunk is a genre that came into prominence during the 1980s and 90s and incorporates elements of science fiction, speculative fiction, fantasy, and alternative history. The settings are usually related to steam power, reflecting the designs and details of the Victorian era prior to the wide spread usage of electrical power. Think Jules Verne and H.G. Wells inspired goggles and ray guns combined with what a Victorian lady would wear while traveling to the moon.

Steampunk: Gadgets*Art*Costumes will be on display at the Museum through September 8, 2013. When visiting, be sure to stop in the Tesla Lounge to get your steampunk souvenirs. And the Nemo Salon in the gallery provides the perfect backdrop for a photo op. Post your pictures on our Facebook page and let your friends know you were at the Oshkosh Public Museum’.

It is evident that Steampunk, as artistic movement and developing community, continues to gain ground in the academic and cultural fields, becoming more and more prominent step by step.

3.- About Decimononic’s participation at the exhibition Steampunk: Gadgets*Art*Costumes

Mr. Michael Breza, Assistant Director of the Museum, has kindly provided us with some pictures of our pieces displayed in its glass cabinet. As can be seen above, the loaned pieces from Decimononic collection are (left to right) our Air Privateer ring, Air Privateer cufflinks (new piece!), Sky Captain lapel pin and Discord Ring.

Do not miss this chance to enjoy a marvellous exhibition if you have the opportunity to visit it. We wish we could do it, but we will have to make do with having our jewelry pieces exhibited there (and we are most thankful for this!).
