On 22nd January Lastwear team announced its ‘Staying in Business Sale’. As this initiave has come along nicely, they have even announced an entire ‘Decopunk’ menswear line for this year. And we think that these are great news because learning about Lastwear’s project we have come to a conclusion: Lastwear and Decimononic have a lot in common. So…
We are offering you three reasons why we want Lastwear to stay in business
1.- Changing the world
Put in their own words ‘Lastwear is the original open source clothing company’. What does this mean? They explain it with total clarity: ‘ That’s why we make our design, patterns and process available for free to everyone. We hope we can help you change the world’. An that’s brilliant.
This is why the contents of our website are published under a Creative Commons Attribution – Non Commercial – Share alike license. This is why Irene and I have a Vision, Decimononic has one purpose: individual empowerment. We have already started to change the world with your help.
2.- Building healthy communities
But reminding everyone that each singular person is valuable means that strong communities are more necessary than ever. Lastwear team believes in the importance of building communities on the foundations of ethical business. And so do we. This is why Social Responsibility is one of our main concerns.
Is building communities synonim for giving? Lastwear offers ‘Stories of the Last World’, for example. We try to create a global ethical and aesthetical proposal.
3.- Getting quality back
We do need to re-think the economic and social system we are living in. Lastwear team has its own vision: ‘Recipe for a Change’. Probably they are right when they say ‘our clothes and our name reflect our belief that it’s better to buy quality once than throw it away a hundred times’. We do not believe in the abuse of disposable goods, we believe in durability and this is why we put every effort into the task of designing and creating pieces for a lifetime. Unique jewels that can become a legacy.
And probably they are absolutely right when they emphasize the importance of small business. This is where we stand.
Are you ready to join us? Then do it!

Many thanks for these kind words. As one of Lastwear’s fiction contributors, I can tell you that every mention from friends such as you keeps Lastwear going. And helps change the world. Fight Corporate Colonialism!
