Description
The piece
Resembling a twisted teardrop, the kidney-shaped paisley is Iranian and Indian in origin. Imports from the East India Company in the first half of the 17th century made this pattern popular in Europe and English manufacturers began to mass-produce it circa 1670. In the 19th century European production of paisley increased, particularly in the Scottish town from which this pattern takes its modern name.
We have taken this traditional pattern to reformulate it for you in our own steamy way.
