Irene and I are very pleased to share with you some photos of the opening of the exhibition ’20 Years of Designer Jewelry in Spain’ that will be opened from 4th June to 13th July and from 15th to 27th September.

This exhibition has been promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, the National Museum of Decorative Arts and the Spanish Association ‘Asociación Joyas de Autor’ (AJA). Its opening took place on 3rd June with great public acclaim and gathered 14 of the 16 chosen designers. We feel really honored to be among this plethora of outstanding artists.

About the exhibition ‘20 Years of Designer Jewellery in Spain’

Let me say that I have been the Project Manager of this event, so seen it becoming a reality has been very exciting. Are you wondering what is this about? This abstract taken from the official catalogue shoud be of help:

About the exhibition ‘20 Years of Designer Jewellery in Spain’

The main objective of this commemorative exhibition is to show the evolution and development of Designer Jewellery in Spain during the last two decades, taking as a reference the activity of the members of the Asociación de Diseñadores de Joyas de Autor (AJA).

To achieve this purpose, the AJA has selected 16 authors of Designer Jewellery coming from different points of the Spanish geography which offer 16 different and complementary visions about Designer Jewellery. Some of them are renowned professionals with a long career in this field, whereas others are young talents who have shown a determined will for innovation. Additionally, and fully aware that we live in a world of growing interconnection, it is possible to find foreign names in this range of authors, corresponding to authors who have chosen our country to establish and who enrich the national heritage of Designer Jewellery with their influence.

In the jewellery pieces created by these authors converges a huge variety of techniques, styles and meanings, which articulates a singular discourse in each case. All of them have been linked to AJA.
