It is true that Decimononic members praise the value of the individual. However, this does not mean that we do not believe in the power of communities. In fact, human beings are gregarious animals that can only survive within a group and we are convinced that little by little a small community will gradually take shape around Decimononic. People ready to champion individuality and creativity , people able to appreciate quality and uniqueness.
This said, let’s get to the point. As you already know, Steampunk is one of our main sources of inspiration. There is no doubt that any community needs its own communication media as channeling elements willing to spread relevant contents… and Steampunk community is no exception. Even more, knowing that literature is the conducting wire for this community it seems natural to trust the potential of written media. Written media such as Doctor Fantastique´s Show of Wonders magazine.
Doctor Fantastique’s Show of Wonders magazine is an online magazine dedicated to the Steampunk culture, stories and art. No more and no less. Matthew Delman, President of The Doctor Fantastique Company, has recently announced a Kickstarter campaign with a very clear goal. In his own words:
‘[…] We want to replicate the magazines of the Victorian Era. If you’ve ever seen a copy of The Strand or Dickens’s all The Year Round, you know the type of thing I’m taking about. Basically a 19th Century magazine created with 21st Century technology covering a subculture that imagines an alternate version of the 19th Century’.
We are sure that this initiative deserves all our consideration and support. This is the reason why we are backing it and encouraging to do it yourself. Right now. Because it matters.
Ony 19 days to go: ‘January/February 2012 print magazine issue of Doc F’s’ in Kickstarter.
