Born in 1980 in Gentofte, Agnes Caroline Thaarup Obel is a Danish singer/songwriter. Her mother, Katja Obel, was a jurist but also a brilliant musician and this let Agnes learn to play the piano when she was just a child. Today Agnes writes, plays, sings, records and produces all her material herself.
Since 2005, Agnes has lived in Berlin and she debuted as a solo singer with her first album Philharmonics (2010), that became a critical and commercial success; Agnes won five prizes at the Danish Music Awards in November 2011.
‘The Curse’ is the seventh song of Agnes’ sophomore album, Aventine (2013). This song was released on 20th August 2013 as lead single from the album and its videoclip was directed by the photographer and animation artist Alex Brüel Flagstad (Agnes’ boyfriend).
‘The Curse’ is delicate, elegant, enigmatic. Beautiful. Essential for ‘A Singular Soundtrack’, don’t you think?
