The first two iamamiwhoami videos were uploaded to a YouTube video channel on December 4th 2009 and were forwarded from an anonymous email account to some music journalists and bloggers. The unknown identity of the creators behind these videos generated an enormous amount of buzz, even conjectures of side projects of artists like Christina Aguilera, Björk, Goldfrapp, Lady Gaga, The Knife or Trent Reznor.
On February 1st 2012, the iamamiwhoami YouTube channel became active: the bew video “kin 20120611” was uploaded and sent to music blogs much in the same manner as the original release. It is no accident that iamamiwhoami won the MTV O Music Awards Digital Genius Award.
Running from an initial set of prelude videos to a series of full length songs, the videos and songs form a continuous story about the project frontwoman, Jonna Lee.
Enjoy ‘The Last Dancer’. We hope this appetizer is enough to arouse you curiosity about iamamiwhoami, an electronic music and audiovisual project led by Swedish musician and singer-songwriter Jonna Lee and music producer Claes Björklund.
