1.- About Steampunk Hands Around the World

For second year in a row, Steampunk Hands around the World has thrived throughout February.

As the promoter of this event, Kevin Steil, said, Steampunk Hands Around the World 2015- Our Playground, Our Classroom, Our Workshop is a month long event in February 2015 showing and sharing how steampunk and the community is where we can play, learn, and create. Through these means, we come together as a community to forge new connections and friendships, inspire and be inspired by each other, and create realities from the stuff of dreams.

2.- A different approach this time

Naturally most of the initiatives have been conceived by the Steampunk community for the Steampunk community; Irene and I dit this ourselves last year, indeed. However, this time we wanted to take a different approach. Why? Because the Steampunk movement is not isolated, it interacts and influences other communities worlwide. In fact, we explored the existing link between Steampunk fashion and Haute Couture some time ago, so this time we began to wonder… may Steampunk ethos and aesthetics be impacting on other alternative lifestyle scenes? If so, how? And we said… alright, let’s find out!

And this is the result, a little case study. Does it seem to you there is any kind of relationship between Steampunk and the latex fetish scene? Have a look at this slides presentation and make up your mind…

Steampunk + Latex: Do Steampunk aesthetics influence other alternative lifestyles? from Decimononic

We have spent many hours looking for material for this slides presentation. In particular, trying to find the images’ credits. Believe us when we say that we have done our best trying to find complete credits regarding photographers, models, etc. Unfortunately this is quite difficult, even using Google Search Images in combination with TinEye. This slides presentation has educational purpose, but if you are the copyright holder of any of the used photos and you want us to correct the credits or to eliminate any of your photos, just let us know and we will take care of this inmediatly. Many thanks in advance for your understanding.

This said, do you think that Steampunk is having any impact in other global (or local) movements? In which ones? How did you find out about this fact? Share your experiences with us in the comments section below!
